A Yoga and Exploring Adventure
September 26 - October 3, 2018 with Sonia Lennartz and Wanderlust Travel Boutique
Satisfy your inner wanderlust with this unique opportunity to explore the beauty and culture of Southern Italy while immersing yourself in mindfulness with daily yoga sessions provided by Sonia Lennartz.
You will enjoy a life changing experience of loving yourself and loving life with twice daily yoga, daily excursions, breathtaking scenery, gracious hospitality, and unforgettable dining opportunities.
Yoga classes will be designed to complement the customized excursion each day. The classes will range from de-stressing and relaxing yin after a busy day to invigorating classes to prepare for the day ahead. Relaxation and mindfulness will be the guiding principles for the practices offered. The classes will be geared to multi-level students so prior experience is not necessary.
Our home for this journey will be the lovely country house, Borgo la Pietraia which is situated in the foothills at the base of the Soprano and Sottano mountains. Visitors experience unobstructed views thanks to the hillside location and proximity to the sea. This little corner of Cilento that is nestled between the mountains and the sea provides a perfectly integrated environment that is in harmony with the surrounding nature. The villa is decorated in lively colors and warm materials. Borgo la Pietraia respects the past, the ancient stone, the food and the smell of the abundant Mediterranean vegetation: a true paradise.
The country house’s proximity and easy connections to Paestum, the Cilento Coast, the city of Salerno, the Amalfi Coast, Positano, Sorrento, Capri and the ruins of Pompeii, makes Borgo la Pietraia the ideal starting point for our excursions to discover the most charming destinations of the Campania region.

Day 2: September 26
Arrival in Rome and transfer to Borgo la Pietraia.
Welcome dinner to follow.
Day 3: September 27
Full day Amalfi Coast drive with stops and visit of Amalfi, Positano and Ravello.
Day 4: September 28
Today we will visit the ancient site of Paestum -- home to some of Europe's best-preserved Ancient Greek temples. At the ancient site, we will enjoy a 2-hour private guided tour of the ruins.
Following our visit to the temples, we will go to a family-run dairy farm to observe the production of (and to taste!) fresh mozzarella di bufala. We will watch as experts knead and fold the cheese, using the time-tested process.
Day 5: September 29
Today, we will embark on a full-day exploration of the stunning Policastro Gulf.
First, we will stop in the seaside town of Marina di Camerota before continuing on to the Palinuro peninsula.
Once in Palinuro, we we will enjoy a 90-minute boat trip around Cape Palinuro. Along the way, the boat will visit enchanting grottoes -- offering us the chance to dive in the crystal clear waters of the Buondormire Bay.
During our return ride to the accommodation, the group will stop in Marina di Pisciotta learn about the the ancient fishing traditions of this town and to taste a local specialty "pizza cilentana" -- or a focaccia topped with goat cheese.
Day 6: September 30
Today, we will explore some of the most ancient towns and villages of the Cilento coast.
We will discover centuries-old hamlets where a slower pace of life and old-fashioned traditions still reign. Cilento is the homeland of the Mediterranean diet -- famed around the world for its combination of extra virgin olive oil and fresh fish. During today's excursion, we will lunch at a local farm. We will see first-hand where olives are grown and pressed into extra virgin olive oil.
Evening at leisure.
Day 7: October 1
Morning at leisure.
In the afternoon, we will enjoy an authentic, hands-on cooking experience in the home of a local nonna (grandma).
We will learn how to prepare local traditional dishes and enjoy a true taste of Southern Italian hospitality.
Day 8: October 2
Visit to Pompeii.
Step back into history in Pompeii and enjoy a spectacle not repeated elsewhere in the world. The fame of the petrified town is linked to the tragic day in AD 79 when Mount Vesuvius erupted, burying it in 20 feet of pumice and ash. Although the ancient town was discovered in the 16th century, serious excavation works began only in the 18th century, revealing a city petrified in time. Paintings and sculptures have survived in some buildings, and graffiti is still visible on street walls. We will continue our visit to Herculaneum. Our guide will show us the main highlights of the ancient Roman town, significantly smaller than Pompeii, that was once a seaside resort and trading port town with quite wealthy inhabitants. We will have the chance to see the House of Neptune and Amphitrite with the beautiful mosaics decorating the outdoor dining room, as well as the most spectacular villa of the site, namely Villa dei Cervi, with its luxurious mosaics, frescoes and statues.
Day 9: October 3
Departure transfers to Rome airport and flights back to the United States.
